Job Description

Financial Accountant | High Growth, Retail Business | West Midlands | £45,000 - £52,000 + competitive packageThe OpportunityOur client is a high growth retail business who are currently undergoing a fantastic period of positive transformation. This senior role will lead a small number of colleagues within the Financial Accounts team, and also act as a stakeholder to the widerbusiness.Reporting to the Financial Controller your team will be responsible for the financial control of the business, including the production of the monthly Management. You will also need to use strong your strong communication skills to establish excellent workingrelationships with other members of the Financial Accounts team, as well as the wider Finance functions and other areas of the businessYou will be joining a fast-growing business and will be involved in supporting the strategic initiative underpinning the ambitious 5 year business plan.Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and develop a small number of colleagues in the Financial Accounts team
  • Support the introduction of store level profit & loss accounts for the next financial year
  • Take responsibility for the output of a number of key Profit and Loss Accounts
  • Take ownership for a number of critical Balance Sheet reconciliations
  • Ensure that Balance Sheet control accounts are fully reconciled and that risks and opportunities are quantified and reported on a monthly basis
  • Support the embedding of the new Oracle Finance system
  • Management of the sales ledger
  • Month end accruals and prepayments
  • Monthly internal reporting
  • Monthly, quarterly and annual Group reporting
  • Support on company VAT returns
  • Process, interpret and challenge stock take results
  • Balance sheet variance analysis, investigation and resolution
  • Support for strategic initiatives
Qualifications and Experience
  • Qualified Accountant
  • Excellent working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel
  • Experience of Cognos or Oracle would be beneficial
  • Strong financial accounting background
  • Proven track record of attention to detail and ability to work to strict deadlines and prioritise tasks accordingly
  • Ability to analyse and challenge information provided
  • Demonstratable experience in leading a small team
  • Ability to fully understand the present and future needs of the business and to adapt current processes to accommodate future growth
  • Ability to communicate with colleagues at all levels
