Job Description

Role and Responsibilities (in simple terms):As a Child and Family Support Worker, your main role is to work closely with your team manager and senior practitioner to ensure the safety and support of children, young people, and their families. Heres a breakdown of your responsibilities:

  1. Collaboration: Work with a team to safeguard and support children and families.
  2. Family Approach: Implement a whole-family approach to positively impact family behaviors.
  3. Practical and Emotional Support: Provide practical and emotional support to parents, keeping children at the center of practice.
  4. Individual and Family Support: Offer support to individual families in their homes or community settings.
  5. Case Management: Handle a small number of children in need, progressing their plans and delivering intervention and support.
  6. Supervised Family Time: Support the delivery of safe and effective supervised family time.
  7. Parenting Guidance: Provide advice and guidance to families on child development and parenting.
  8. Flexibility: Work flexibly to meet the needs of children and families through evidence-based interventions.
  9. Contribution to Assessment: Contribute to the assessment and support of parents, children, and families.
  10. Plan Management: Manage plans with families, reviewing them timely to prevent concerns from escalating.
  11. Direct Work: Deliver direct work with parents and children through their support plans.
  12. Communication: Communicate effectively with children, families, colleagues, and other agencies.
  13. Role Modeling: Act as a positive role model for parents/carers in various contexts.
  14. Professional Relationships: Build working relationships with other professionals and agencies for effective multi-agency collaboration.
  15. Accountability: Demonstrate accountability within legislative frameworks and council policies.
  16. Safe Practices: Ensure safe and appropriate working practices, including home visiting or lone working.
  17. Training Participation: Attend and participate in all required training and development activities.
