Job Description

Job TitleMulti Skilled Maintenance Engineer Electrically Biased.Job PurposeThe purpose of the role is to provide a flexible electrically biased multi-skilled (E-m) approach to maintenance activities.The fundamentals of which are to restore, improve & maintain plant & equipment in order to achieve optimum performance, while working safely at all times.Reporting to the Engineering Manager, the multi skilled Electrician is responsible for the completion of daily and weekly tasks in a timely manner, adopting an analytical approach to problem solving, to identify the root cause of failures, proposing appropriate corrective/sustaining actions.Key ActivitiesHealth, Safety & EnvironmentTo adhere to all safety policies and regulations affecting the roles, while working within a safe system of work.The adherence to all environmental policies and regulations affecting the roles.Identify hazards and implement countermeasures associated with a task of work prior to commencement and communicate any resulting recommendations for improvements.To report all unsafe conditions in the work place through near miss reporting.As required, take part in accident/incident investigations, recommending appropriate corrective actions.PerformanceThe completion of routine maintenance tasks scheduled in the departments activity plan, while understanding the KPIs, and how they impact on plant performance on a daily and weekly basis.Report any issues/barriers to the completion of the activity plan to the Maintenance Supervision.Where a problems occur within the scheduled task, use own initiative to rectify the situation or, whether this can or cannot be done, notify Maintenance Supervision.When completing any tasks, report any required follow up work via the Maintenance Shift log Book at the same time as notifying the Maintenance Supervision.Installation of plant and associated services. LeadershipTo be a professional member of the Department by:-Being fully engaged in the role, through commitment and flexibility within the team. o As appropriate, deliver on the job coaching of team members and or Apprentices in best practice approach to the task. o When appropriate, recommending any external training requirements of the team to the Maintenance Supervision.Engage in two-way communication processes operated within the Department.Customer Service/QualityUnderstands Site/ Departmental KPIs such as OEE, Downtime, MTBF and Delivery Performance.Where there is an issue likely to affect these KPIs, if it is not possible to take immediate corrective action, notify the Maintenance Supervision.Demonstrate a focus on customer service within the team, both in relation to internal and external customers.Continuous ImprovementDriven by a culture of continuous improvement, through the use of problem solving tools and techniques.Actively work towards the continued development of the stock control system for maintenance spares.Communication and Working RelationshipsEffective communication required:-At all levels of management as appropriate.Within the Maintenance team, across all shifts.With Contractors, Maintenance Service Providers, and Suppliers of Maintenance Materials & Equipment.Dimensions and Decision MakingDecisions made within defined business policies and procedures.Conformance with all site EHS systems and procedures in relation to tasks being undertaken.Follow written or verbal instruction from departmental supervision.Working either in a team or as an individual.Able to identify hazards and implement appropriate control measures when defining the safe method of work.Qualifications required to fulfil the roleCompleted an Electrical Maintenance/Engineering Apprenticeship.Qualified to NVQ level 3 or equivalent.Specific WorkExperience required to fulfil the roleAt least 4 years experience within an industrialised manufacturing environment  Familiar with organisational safety requirements e.g. Isolation & Permits To Work.Using and interpreting engineering data.Bench fitting, basic workshop machining,.An understanding of hydraulic & pneumatic systems.Ability to read and fault find from Electrical circuit drawings.Trained against the Electricity at Work Regulations.Competent to work safely on electrical tasks, e.g. the installation of conduits, cable trays, armoured cables. Fault finding and testing on live circuits.Competent user of M.S. Office applications & familiar with the requirements of a CMMS.
