Job Description

Adult Community Nursing ServiceCommunity Specialist Respiratory NurseAFC BAND 737.5 hours per week/part time consideredAn exciting opportunity has arisen for a dynamic, motivated Respiratory Nurse Specialist to work within the community as part of the expansion of the Community Respiratory Team. Working within a locality based team you will work as the expert in respiratory care, predominantly managing patients with COPD, ensuring effective disease management for complex patients and those suffering acute exacerbation with the aim of avoiding hospital admission where possible. You will act as supervisor to junior members of the respiratory team and advisor to the wider integrated team for respiratory care.You will need to be able to work in an autonomous way and facilitate effective communication between team members and staff within the integrated locality team and secondary and primary care teams, to promote a culture where care is safe, timely and well co-ordinated for patients with respiratory disease in the community. You will be responsible for a caseload of patients many of whom will be complex.You must be a level one registered nurse with:

  • Experience in community nursing
  • Evidence of continuing professional development within the speciality
  • Experienced in advanced nursing assessment (or willing to train to advanced level)
  • Qualification in or willing to complete Independent/supplementary prescribing.
