Job Description

REED are looking for an experienced Specialist Domestic Abuse Help line & Intake Practioner.This is based in Wakefield.ASAP start till end of July could be extended.Monday - Friday 09.00 - 17.00£14.86 PAYEOffice based with a large degree of flexibility to support effective delivery.Occasionally required to work out of normal office hours and at other venues across the district, as required.Job PurposeThe purpose of the post is to work as part of Domestic Abuse Service to deliver a help line and intake service, to provide initial contact, support and a consistent referral intake pathway for those wishing to access it.This post will be responsible for triaging referrals, assessing risk and needs of individuals.This post will work with partners to establish the immediate safety of individuals contacting or being referred to the service.The post holder will work as part of a multi-agency team to provide a high-quality frontline and first point of contact service to victims of domestic abuse, delivering an immediate co-ordinated response to those at high, medium and standard risk, prioritising those at highest risk of serious harm.KnowledgeExcellent understanding of the complexity and dynamic nature of domestic abuse.Have a good understanding and knowledge of domestic abuse including the impact of victims and children.Have knowledge of services available to support perpetrators of domestic abuse.Have good theoretical, practical and procedural knowledge of the civil/criminal justice remedies for victims of domestic abuse and their children.Experience & Skills requiredSubstantial experience working in the field of domestic abuse.Proven experience of multi-agency and partnership working to draw on the strengths of professionals in the contribution to improving outcomes for individuals and families.Experience of providing crisis intervention in relation to domestic abuse.Experience of providing support to domestic abuse victims, their families and perpetrators.Experience of providing support, guidance and advice to professionals around domestic abuse and those using abusive behaviours.Excellent understanding of child and adult safeguarding and its relation to domestic abuse and the legal responsibilities surrounding these issues,Working knowledge of the risk assessment and safety planning process, within the context of domestic abuse.A thorough understanding of current risk assessment tools for domestic abuse.Understanding and knowledge of the requirement for confidentiality and safe working practice and maintenance of files in accordance with the Data Protection Act and other legal requirements.Have excellent crisis management skills and the ability to deal with stressful and difficult situations.Have excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills.Can demonstrate an understanding of the requirements of a domestic abuse perpetrator programme.Ability to act with integrity and respect when interacting with clients, employees and agenciesIs able to engage effectively with service users and professionals.The ability to use information to formulate an assessment of risk or need and to refer on to appropriate servicesQualificationsHold an IDVA qualification or a relevant degree or demonstrate an equivalent level of knowledge and skills gained through relevant employment.If you have the above experience and knowlege please apply within
