Job Description

This role will focus on winter maintenance, depot management and scheme planning. You will be the key decision maker when it comes to planning for all severe weather conditions and overseeing a team of Network Planner’s.Please note, this position will require a National Security Vetting check.What you’ll be leading on

  • Provide subject matter expertise and guidance to a team of Network Planners or relevant parties in the development of regional resilience, emergency, winter and severe weather plans that serve to minimise disruption to customers, whilst maximising operational delivery.
  • Lead and co-ordinate development of scheme project briefs and business cases for the forward programme, ensuring business outcomes are clearly articulated, and that all necessary stakeholders provide inputs and are consulted on the development of proposed solutions / designs.
  • Lead the co-ordination of depot and premises management activities and liaise with Highways England’s supply chain to achieve safe and effective management of depot premises.
  • Lead the development of relevant processes and procedures, ensuring they adopt best practice, intelligence insights and ad-hoc changes for maximum customer benefit.
  • Proactively analyse the effectiveness of existing plans and arrangements in meeting service level expectations and implement improvement initiatives; manage risks and issues that affect delivery.
  • Proactively liaise with regional Operations colleagues (e.g. Service Delivery and Scheme Delivery) and wider internal and external stakeholders to optimise network availability and minimise the impact of planned and unplanned events on customers.
  • Develop and recommend best practice methods for the ongoing improvement of processes and activities in scope
  • To be successful
  • Extensive knowledge of winter and severe weather service and verification
  • Demonstrable experience of severe weather and winter service systems and decision
  • making
  • HNC/HND in engineering or similar is preferred
  • Previous experience in highway maintenance and/or technical administration
  • Excellent communications skills and stakeholder management
  • Professional membership ICE, IHE, CIHT or equivalent
