Job Description

Purchasing and Supply Chain Manager – ManufacturingWakefield£45k to £55k (Higher salary may be considered DOE)This manufacturing business is bucking the current trend and growing rapidly with a further 50% growth expected over the next 5 years. To support this growth we are seeking a seasoned purchasing and supply professional to join the company senior management team. This is a multi site business but in this case your focuss will be the development, daily management and delivery of a team, systems and process, ensuring the availabilty of materials for an established manufacturing site in Wakefield. If you are looking for a growing business you can truly make an impact with and support through growth and in turn develop your future career with we want to hear from you.The Role:You will be managing a team of up to 3 direct reports initially with an additional 3 to 5 indirect reports across purchasing/supply and material/stock management to include site stores, stock intake and allocation. We are not looking for procurment activities and supply chain rationalisation, this is more of a supplier relationship and process management function aimed at ensuring the availability of materials to meet the production plan, normally on a short lead time basis from an existing and established supply chain. As the Suppply/Purchasing Manager you will manage and develop your team and function processes working closely with the business owners, manufactuing management, planning and the supply chain. This will include system development in conjuntion with the business head of software and other key stakeholders. The key purpose of the role is to ensure supplier OTIF through good relationship management and development to support the effective manufacture and delivery of customer orders, adhering to quality standards and ensuring on time manufacture and delivery according to production planning.In the role you will be managing the material process from supplier forcasting through to order placement, stock reciept, stores allocation, inventory management and system management ensuring digital systems reflect physical inventory. This is a role where good accumen, professionalism and a solid work ethic will be needed with the role consisting of both strategy development and hands on delivery.Experince RequiredWe are seeking experience in a manufacturing environment and prior experience of managing and developing a team, processes and systems orientated around delivering a manufacturing plan adhering to OTIF principles. In this case the business purchases and holds up to 4500 stock items mostly consisting of UPVC, composite and aluminium profiles. Experience of a similar stock profile would be desirable however the key experience we are seeking is manufacturing material supply and management coupled with people/team management.We envisage the successful candidate will have experience of working to, implementing and developing manufacturing tools such as KANBAN, LEAN principles, 5s and similar.Skills & Qualifications

  • Ideally a relevant degree and/or CIPS although we will consider other experienced candidates.
  • Experience of managing material supply and material flow in a manufacturing environment.
  • Experience of plastic/metal profiles would be great but no essential.
  • An experienced team/people manager and leader.
  • Prior proven experience of supporting a similar function in manufacturing through growth would be a distinct advantage.
