Job Description

Your New roleWe currently have an exciting new opportunity for a Network Resilience Planner to join our team in Wakefield. Within this role, you will be undertaking the development and maintenance of one of more of the following: emergency and events plans, winter and severe weather plans, and managing their delivery through Highways England teams or third-party partners. You will also be working across a number of delivery focused teams both internal and external to the organization.Please note, this position will require a National Security Vetting check.What you’ll be leading on

  • Creating and coordinating a programme of work using planning software to plot progress against set milestones to deliver important resilience projects which impact on our customers such as Diversion Route sign renewal and other important infrastructure which keeps our customers safe
  • Lead on the new Highways England process for both planned and unplanned diversion routes, this will involve engagement with the relevant Highways Authorities and Police to obtain signed agreement on any works that may be required and that the route is fit for purpose.
  • Develop scheme project briefs and business cases for the forward programme, ensuring business outcomes are clearly articulated, and that all necessary stakeholders provide inputs and are consulted on the development of proposed solutions / designs.
  • Undertake the development of regional resilience and contingency plans, such as winter, severe weather and emergency plans, ensuring they adopt best practice, intelligence insights and ad-hoc changes
  • Identify and resolve any closure or diversion route conflicts in line with existing procedures, escalating any issues which cannot be addressed
  • Proactively analyse the effectiveness of existing plans and arrangements in meeting service level expectations and identify opportunities for improvement; escalate risks and issues that affect delivery
  • Proactively liaise with regional Operations colleagues (e.g. Service Delivery and Scheme Delivery) and wider internal and external stakeholders to optimise network availability and minimise the impact of planned and unplanned events on customers
  • To be Successful
  • Experience of winter or emergency / contingency planning
  • Experience of one or more of the following: road space planning procedures and systems, contingency, resilience planning and business continuity
  • Excellent communication skills and stakeholder management
  • Previous experience in highway maintenance and/or technical administration
  • Proficient in using Microsoft Office, including excel
