Job Description

Take care of our tech and you can do something extraordinary: help our team create brighter futures.The roleAn experienced IT professional, you’ll support the systems we use in our offices, schools and children’s homes. They include in-house computer systems; wireless infrastructure; switches; routers; desktops; and relevant peripherals. You’ll install all equipment and keep it well maintained, and when problems arise will be there to troubleshoot and diagnose. You’ll also support our state of the art datacenter and maintain connectivity, and with the help of our dedicated support team, keep everything up and running across the Witherslack Group.On a daily basis you will be responsible for managing and maintaining support calls assigned to you. You will visit different schools and homes each day to provide proactive support. Your daily site visits will be based on a geographical proximity but you will also have the opportunity to travel to other sites around the group, as well as supporting them remotely where possible. You will have the opportunity to collaborate with other members of the IT team in different locations to enable you to progress and develop your skills and knowledge.You will have the opportunity to develop your skills and knowledge in a virtual environment, knowledge of VMware would be an advantage, however we are willing to train you in this area. You will also be exposed to a group wide MPLS network, which you will help to support.Your profileHaving worked in an IT support role before, you’ll already have what it takes. You have solid expertise in the following key areas:

  • Microsoft operating systems and Office
  • iPad support, preferably in an Education environment
  • Network and PC hardware
  • Logging, reporting and monitoring procedures
  • Hardware and software
  • You can install, configure, test, maintain and troubleshoot the above technology. However, this role calls for more than technical ability. We’re looking for motivation, discipline and a natural gift for teamwork. Good communication skills are essential, as you’ll be helping and training users. We’re also looking for five GCSEs (or equivalent). .
