Job Description

Freedom Networks are currently recruiting for a HV Project Manager to work on a substation and switchgear replacement contract for Northern Powergrid.The main purpose of this role will be responsible for leading a project delivery team comprising of senior authorised engineers, jointing teams, fitting teams and civils teams, being responsible for staff utilisation and management of compliance related information.A general requirement of the role will be to ensure both Freedom’s and the clients policies and procedures are being adhered to and constantly improved upon as well as managing projects from a financial perspective ensuring profit margins are met and exceeded.The Project manager will have experience within the electricity power distribution industry and be familiar with its standards, practices and procedures as well as 11 / 20kv operational experienceResponsibilities:

  • Manage and lead a team of field managers;
  • Manage civil work on multiple/major projects safely, competently and effectively to time and budget;
  • Lead and manage a team of engineers and operatives with a wide and varied skill set
  • Surveying of a wide variety of works involving switchgear and substation replacements
  • Manage all financial aspects of projects, including the costing and invoicing of any additional works;
  • Responsible for franchisee and subcontract work programming and resourcing;
  • Coordination with the street works team to ensure permits are raised, opened, closed and registered accordingly;
  • Management of civil defects and Management of civil works as per the scheme managers requirements;
  • Compilation and issue of site work packs;
  • Provide all documentation on completion of schemes;
  • Coordination of site activities – to include putting people to work and ensuring all H&S standards are met.
  • Have a strong understanding of commercial terms and conditions and the impact they will have on project delivery
    • Requirements:
  • Sound understanding of the financial aspects of projects;
  • Sound knowledge of Health & Safety and its practical implications;
  • Some experience of working in the electricity distribution or utilities industry would be beneficial;
  • Project Management Accreditation
  • Driving License
  • CDM knowledge;
  • NVQ / ONC / HNC or above in Civil Engineering or other related subject;
  • IOSH, NEBOSH, SMSTS or other safety related qualification;
  • NRSWA Supervisor / Operative accredited;
  • Temporary Works Supervisor / Coordinator (Desirable)
