Job Description

The Group Health and Safety Manager will have 1-3 direct reports based across the 2 UK sites (1 in Wakefield, another in the North West). The primary focus is keeping the people and the business assets safe supporting the Group HSE systems and participatesin audits of other group sites.Client DetailsThe client is a global packaging manufacturer that is introducing projects to become more sustainable by utilising recyclable products. In the UK, the business has a site in Wakefield and another in the North West.DescriptionThe Group Health and Safety Manager will manage:

  • A continually improving safety culture within everything we do at the sites
  • HSE system management.
  • HSE compliance.
  • HSE legislation updates.
  • Assessments and compliance (all areas).
  • Liaising and working with legal bodies (HSE, Environmental Agency, etc).
  • Point of contact and specialist advise for both UK sites
  • HSE Group Audits.
  • Facilitating HSE behavioural leadership
  • HSE Contracts - supervision, service and budget control.
  • Fire Safety and liaison with insurers
  • Employers Liability responsibility for UK sites.
ProfileThe successful Group Health and Safety Manager:
  • Must be CMIOSH, or actively working towards this
  • Must have experience in Health and Safety in a hands-on manufacturing role
  • Desirable to have some experience in food safety, hygiene and environmental management would also be useful.
  • BRC knowledge in an FMCG environment would be an advantage
  • Must have a Health and Safety qualification to NEBOSH Diploma level or equivalent
  • Must have experience of training and coaching people
  • Must understand the behavioural aspects of HSE
  • Must be willing and able to maintain CPD for HSE
