Spencer Clarke is hiring multiple vehicle technicians for day shifts in the wakefield area.We are looking for technicians who have previous experience working with vehicles, plant equipment, vehicle repairs, vehicle diagnosis etc.As an vehicle technician you will be based in Wakefield, you will be tasked with:1. To contribute actively in the overall operation of Transport Services.2. Undertake specific technical support duties within the transport service.3. Meet the public and representatives of other Services and contractors as necessary and provide appropriate information on request.4. Participate in the team working approach to the allocation of duties within Transport Services, where necessary leading small teams.5. To adhere to and apply legislation, Council standing orders, constitution and procedures as appropriate6. To apply all appropriate health and safety procedures relevant to the Transport Service and communicate and advise where necessary other staff of their responsibilities in this area and to report any concerns immediately.7. To communicate fully with all staff within Transport Service as appropriate.8. To participate in maintaining good employee relations within Transport Service.9. Undertake any training required ensuring that all aspects of the post are undertaken competently and contribute to ongoing personal and Service development.10. Working within the aims of the service in a efficient and economical manner having regard for a high standard.11. Carry out inspection, maintenance and repair to vehicles, plant and equipment.12. Responsible for the safety of all vehicle & plant users and general public in respect of meeting operational safety and roadworthiness standards.13. To diagnose faults and decide on the most economical method of repair while having regard to appropriate quality and legal standards.14. To carry out MOT / Taxi tests and car loan inspections on own initiative in a separate MOT facility to VOSA and the Councils own standards.15. Ensure all paper work, forms, inspection sheets, defect notes and photographic evidence are completed accurately and recorded as required.16. To assist in the provision of breakdown cover for vehicles, plant and horticultural machinery on site (or highway) where appropriate and to repair where reasonably practical.The ideal vehicle technician needs:
