The category manager role will involve working proactively with stakeholders to develop and maintain corporate category plans to ensure that effective and efficient procurement and commissioning activity is undertaken within the categories of spend allocated in accordance with a one council approach to procurement and commissioning. The role will involve developing robust business cases which articulate key issues.Client DetailsThe client is a well established local government body located in West Yorkshire who have gone through an exciting transformation within the procurement function.Description- To provide a professional, customer-focused service for the procurement of goods, services and works for Wakefield Council, within a category management framework.- To achieve best value and cost effectiveness, with an emphasis on achieving efficiencies and continuous improvement.- To manage a category of spend in order to gain a full understanding and control of all third party spend associated with the category and ensure a planned, proactive approach is maintained to improve procurement activity within the category of spend across the Council.- To support in the development and management of the procurement and commissioning framework across the council which includes reviewing and updating procurement guidance, undertaking training, providing advice and guidance and maintaining procurement intranet pagesProfileThe successful candidate will be experienced within Public Sector procurement and have a good understanding of PCR 2015 and EU Procurement legislation.Job OfferThere is a lot on offer to this candidate for an opportunity to grow into the position and progress into more senior roles in the future.
