Job Description

Are you looking for a Job working with Autistic studentsAre you experienced in Secondary teachingHave you been a year leader or head of departmentThe school: We are currently looking for a Secondary teacher for a schools science department teaching across Key Stage 3 and 4. The Teacher will be working with Autistic and SLD students, based in Hillingdon and will be teaching small classes of students at low ability who need academic as well as social development. You will also be required to lead the department and manage teachers within the department. There are 5-6 students in a class with one to two Teaching and Learning Support Assistants. The school is a therapeutic school which helps with the behaviour and allows a calm environment. Most pupils are on the autism spectrum and have been diagnosed with ADHD and/or Autism.They are learning at lower levels and taking ASDAN in KS4The Teacher will become part of a team that specializes in delivering curriculum designed to meet individual needs and give our students the best possible educational outcomes.You will be required to lead and take part in management meetings and every day running of the department.The role:

  • Plan, deliver and assess outstanding teaching and learning using proven methods and approaches that enable Autistic young people to learn
  • Be a class tutor, ensuring pastoral needs are met and establishing excellent relationships with parents and carers staff member.
  • Supervise the department and ensure every day running, lead by example and assist all staff in your department.
  • Engage and motivate pupils
  • Inspire trust and confidence in pupils, colleagues, parents, and other professionals
  • Build team commitment with colleagues and in the classroom
  • Promote the wider aspirations and values of the school
  • Engage in whole school activities as required by the Headteacher
  • Plan and lead children in off-site enrichment activities
  • Ensure you uphold all safeguarding procedures, including engaging in annual safeguarding training, including induction training
    • The school: is a school based in the Hillingdon, Middlesex area, the school is an autism and SLD specialist school. They are a specialist school and help children with bringing out their talents and Strengths through Therapy and Sports.The school is a secondary school, the students are referred from all the Local borough surround Areas.The school has gone from strength to strength to ensure the Accessibility for the students.They look for candidates to work one to one and in small groups with the students, you must be enthusiastic and have the knowledge or want to learn and trained to work with SEND.The school is based Near to 2 station and has car parking for staff on site.You must have:
  • Successful class teaching experience.
  • Experience of working with children with SEN, Autism ADHD or SLD
  • A commitment to ongoing professional development.
  • An excellent knowledge of the specialist curriculum area and how it may be effectively taught.
