Job Description

A custodial facility in the heart of Staffordshire is looking to enhance the facility with the appointment of a number of Psychotherapists to support the service offering to their customers. This is an excellent opportunity to take on a new challenge.If youre looking for a step up from your current role or alternatively, if youre from a noncustodial environment, this will offer you a challenging new career development focus within a forensic environment. Long term prospects exist for those who areambitious to develop their future careers. The facility has a purpose built 200 bed therapeutic community including a facility for those with learning disabilities / low IQ. Working as part of a highly experienced and multi-disciplinary team, this Psychotherapist role will involve providing group therapyto exclusively male residents and will focus on all aspects of the Therapeutic Community timetable. Specifically, you will be involved in the following:

  • Ensuring the systematic and coordinated provision of high-quality psychotherapy assessment and treatment to residents with complex mental health problems
  • Conduct group treatment to residents, including reporting and tracking the residents progress along with ensuring that the risk of reoffending is minimised
  • Participate in and Chair Therapy Review Boards, making choices regarding appropriate future steps for Residents at the end of their therapy journey
  • Work with the clinical team to embed and sustain the Communitys audit standards
  • Help to promote clinical thinking in areas such as group process; supervision; sensitivity
  • Contribute to reducing reoffending and improving health and wellbeing
  • Utilise research skills for audit, measuring outcomes and contribute to research and training within the areas served by the team
To be successful in this Psychotherapist position, proven experience is required including the following:
  • A formal qualification in psychotherapy with current registration and Accreditation from one or more of UKCP or BACP or equivalent, if currently outside of the UK
  • Substantial post-qualification clinical experience gained in forensic or mental health areas or if more recently qualified, experience gained during placement involving exposure to complex cases
  • Knowledge of forensic psychological and democratic therapeutic community theories, practices and procedures, ideally employed within a custodial setting
  • Experience of delivering therapeutic environments or practices, preferably in a forensic setting

We are interested in candidates who have relevant experience gained from within any of a number of sectors including NHS, private practice, third (charitable) sector, volunteering/pro-bono work. In return, you will receive a salary of £45,000 - £50,000 subject to experience, plus a generous benefits package.
