Job Description

Hospital ChefLocation: Davyhulme, ManchesterJob Type: TemporaryDuration of booking: This is a temporary ongoing role with no end date specifiedProposed start date: As soon as possibleSector: HealthcareBase: Mental Health Unit at a HospitalBand: 2Pay Rates: £10.10 paye inclusive of holiday per hour or £11.00 umbrella per hourWorking Days and Hours: Monday to Friday 11.00am to 6.30pmKey Responsibilities

  • To cook food in the manner laid down, using the ingredients specified, following recipes, production methods and achieving the required standards
  • The portioning of food according to laid down procedures.
  • The completion of production documentation as required
  • To report all deficiencies in food production, quality assurance and temperature audit to your immediate supervisor
  • To ensure food is stored correctly when not being handled
  • To assist as and when required in the trolley loading of patients meals
  • To ensure all food is correctly labelled prior to chilling or freezing
  • To assist in the control and monitoring of food waste
  • To ensure high standards of personal hygiene, including those of subordinate staff
  • To report any failures of food handling/processing procedures to Production Supervisor
  • The reporting of any evidence of pests within the department
  • To present yourself for duty with full clean, Trust standard uniform, including designated headwear that should be always worn
  • To follow the cleaning schedule identified and ensure that subordinate staff complete their tasks allocated to them
  • To report to your immediate supervisor any problems that might put at risk the Trusts hygiene standards
  • HACCP - ensuring appropriate records are kept
  • To ensure the Trusts procedure for the reporting of accidents is followed
  • To report to your immediate supervisor anything that might put at risk the health, safety or welfare of yourself, colleagues, or visitors
  • To ensure that appropriate PPE is always worn whilst on duty.
  • To ensure you are familiar with fire procedures.
  • The organisation and planning of your own work and that of subordinate staff
  • Ensuring security and stock control procedures are followed
Essential Criteria
  • City and Guilds 706 1 and 2, NVQ equivalent
  • Level 2 Food Safety Certificate
  • All round cooking experience, preferably in large organisation
