Senior Python DeveloperHome BasedUp to £60,000 Plus Benefits (see below)About UsAt Kortext, we are driving towards becoming the worlds leading supplier of digitalised academic books.With the continual evolution of technology and processes surrounding teaching and learning, we have developed a platform that supports ease of discovery, ease of access and ease of learning materials that meet the needs of both the students and professionalsin academia.Using the platform we have developed and our expertise in the market, we have brought more than 2,000 universities from around the world onto our platform and can only envisage this growing as the need for online teaching and learning rapidly increases.Our digital library currently contains over two million books from more than 4,500 publishers, in addition to this, our platform is available in more than 100 countries and we have now partnered with 85% of Russell Group universities.As we continue to expand, we are now looking to recruit a Senior Python Developer to join our Business Automation and Partner Integration Team on a fully remote basis.The Role As a Senior Python Developer, you will undertake a range of digital transformation, automation, and partner integration projects.You will be involved in design, implementation, testing and support activities; as our most experienced Python developer, you will take a leading role in our hybrid Waterfall / Agile environment. You will actively involve yourself in fortnightly sprints anddaily virtual stand-ups as well as mentoring those for whom Python may not be their first language.Specifically, your role will involve: - Supporting the Architectural design of solutions, services and applications- Helping develop Use Cases / User Stories, estimating, sprint planning and learning from retrospectives- Establishing internal Python best practice and standards- Developing new systems and services using Python and relevant technologies- Ensuring we embrace Pythonic principles - Designing and implementing automated testing processes for new systems/services- Supporting end-users with User Acceptance Testing- Providing support for live applications, through ITIL based Incident and Problem processes- Ensuring Business Process Monitoring is in place and service delivery is being optimisedAbout YouTo be considered as a Senior Python Developer, you will need:- At a minimum, five years of commercial IT experience developing high-performance back-office or Server-Side applications- Core Python experience- To consider Python your main programming language and follow what is happening in the Python Eco-system, the PEPs which are being worked on and the features and benefits of new releases- To be a classic T shaped developer, with broad business and full life-cycle IT development skills- A good grasp of a web framework, Flask or Django- NumPy skills- An understanding of the importance of outstanding customer service with the ability to focus on immediate needs and outcomes whilst keeping sight of the strategic roadmap- Passion for books and making these available and accessible to as many people as possible- A self-motivated, lifelong learner, with the proven ability to learn new skills in a quickly evolving IT and Business landscape- Solid communication skills and/or soft skills, and attention to detail- The skills to teach and mentor other staff- The ability to work alone, remotely, and as a member of a remote working team- Excellent emotional intelligence, awareness of the needs of other people and how you respond and adapt to themExperience with any of the following would be beneficial to your application: Salesforce integration, book and/or Publishing industry, API and/or EDI Integration, XML processing, serverless Python applications with Azure functions, Kafka, Docker, Azure KubernetesService (AKS), Git Version Control, API and/or Micro Service Development and/or Microsoft Power BI.Experience or skills with any of the following within Azure would also be advantageous: Azure platform (fundamentals, concepts, architecture, storage & compute), Logic Apps, Managed Database, DevOps, Cognitive Search, Kubernetes Service (AKS).A basic understanding of front-end technologies, such as JavaScript, HTML5, and CSS3, would be equally desirable.Your Benefits- Healthcare scheme- Flexible working- Focus on collaborative working- Join a fast-growing market leader- Support and develop a platform hosting more than 2,000,000 books!- Drive innovation and development- Take advance of an abundance of development and progression opportunitiesOther organisations may call this role Python Developer, Software Engineer, Full Stack Developer, Full Stack Python Developer, Python Backend Developer, or Python Software Engineer.Kortext is committed to providing an inclusive working environment where our employees can be themselves and everyone has an equal opportunity to reach their full potential.
