Job Description

Internal Communications Channel Manager £35k - £40k + Competitive BenefitsHybrid Working/RemoteFirst Bus are looking for an experienced Internal Communications Manager to manage, maintain and develop our existing suite of communication channels!As our Internal Communications Channel Manager, you will devise, manage and execute a clear communications channel strategy that reflects our People Strategy, Employee Value Proposition and our ambitious future plans, giving colleagues a great experience atevery touchpoint.We want our colleagues to be engaged, informed and interested and as a business with ambitious plans that are moving at pace, we need you to develop an understanding of our audience and what makes them tick!Due to the broad nature of the Internal Communications Channel Manager role, you certainly wont be bored! You will need to be creative and in touch with the latest developments - but also a realist and able to seek workarounds or opportunities that otherscant. In return, youll get a real sense of job-satisfaction when you see colleagues across the business engaging with your channels and content.You can be based anywhere in the UK, however you will be required to work in one of our offices/depots closest to you, one day a week.What will you be doing

  • Managing the relationship with a number of current and new providers, ensuring we get what we pay for and benefit from new tools and solutions
  • Ensuring we deliver the content we have planned each day, keep colleagues informed and interested in our channels
  • Managing key relationships, such as our local Super-Users, to ensure theyre managing your channels appropriately
  • Exploring new and innovative communications channels, including measuring the effectiveness of our current channels, to help the team make informed decisions on how to best land their campaigns and messages
  • Developing a sound understanding of our audience; what their preferences are and how best to reach them
  • Educating and upskilling your team on our tools and how to make these tools work harder for us
  • Using measurement and analytics to inform your recommendations and demonstrate success to invest in future channels/opportunities
What are we looking for
  • We want you to be confident in offering solutions and ideas as well as actively supporting and contributing to the development of the First Bus Internal Communications Strategy and Employee Value Proposition
  • Experienced in forging excellent relationships and adapting your approach appropriately, as you support various stakeholders, project teams and your own team
  • Have an ability to explain technical solutions and ways of working to those less competent - making it simple and easy to understand / adopt / apply.
  • Experienced in working with stakeholders in complementary fields - such as IT, Marketing and Digital Teams or design agencies - as we increasingly develop integrated campaigns.
  • Demonstratable experience of copy writing and applying tone of voice in practice, as youll be called on to support with style, tone of voice and readability of communications - creativity is key!
  • Able to work with data and present it clearly - not least drawing conclusions and making recommendations off the back of it - as youll need to manage the monthly channel measurement reports
  • Technically competent in using Sharepoint, Microsoft Packages, email software e.g. Poppulo / Bananatag, employee apps such as Workplace by Facebook (Meta) / Unily / Blink / Yammer
  • Ideally, you will also be able to use design packages to deliver on brand supporting assets e.g. Photoshop
