Job Description

Ordnance Survey are currently looking for a Field Surveyorto join our team. This is a home-working role where you will be based remotely from home or in the field, but you will still have access to utilise OSHQ in Southampton, Hampshire or one of our Regional Hubs when you want or need to. You will join us on a full-time, permanent basisand in return, you will receive a competitive salary ofup to £28,000 per annum.Ordnance Survey (OS) provides national mapping services for Great Britain and is a world-leading provider of geospatial solutions. And to be central to OSs vision: to be recognised as world leadersin geospatial services; creating location insight for positive impact.About the Field Surveyor role:Are you resilient and self-motivated Do you like being outdoors, are happy working in the built environment, in all weathers, operate remotely, standalone and have an attention to detailWere looking to add to our geographical spread of Field Surveyors, with some key locations we need people to be based, various areas of mainland Britain, with the ability to work nationwide. As our OS Field Surveyor, you will plan, collect, assess, edit and maintain geospatial information using relevant survey methods to meet customer requirements.What were looking for in our Field Surveyor:You may have some, maybe not all, of the criteria below, but are willing to learn.
  • Geospatially focused, academically qualified or work experience especially using geographic information systems (GIS)
  • The ability to work with geo data, structure, attribution, captureand editplatforms for geospatial uses
  • The ability for working outdoors in all weathers and conditions
  • The ability to deliver to defined requirements/specifications
  • Spatial awareness
  • IT skills, especially using GIS
  • A good learner and a desire to continuously improve
  • Good communication and problem-solving skills
  • Good organisational skills with the ability to work independently
  • Team player, particularly as part of a dispersed team
  • The abilityto travel, with overnight stays in Great Britain
  • Full driving license
  • A current CSCS card
  • Membership in a relevant professional body
