Club Manager Job DescriptionLTA Region: KentHours: Full time (to include some evenings and some weekends)Salary: £37,500 to £40,000Benefits: Full Individual Club MembershipEnrolment in Workplace Pension Scheme (NEST) with statutory employer contributionsDate posted: 18 August 2021Closing date: 15 September 2021Tunbridge Wells Lawn Tennis Club is one of the oldest Clubs in the country and one of the largest in the South East of England, founded in 1899. We offer an unrivalled location nestled in the heart of Tunbridge Wells in Kent and close to Sussex. We have21 courts comprising eight beautiful grass courts, nine artificial clay and four carefully maintained tarmac courts. Additionally, twelve of our courts are floodlit. We are a progressive and sociable club with a thriving adult and junior membership, offering regular mix-ins, coaching and internal competitionsfor all levels of members. We enter around 24 teams in the Kent and Maidstone Leagues, both in summer and winter and host various internal and external tournaments and junior match plays throughout the year. We are a CASC-registered club with around 1000 membersand a well-established coaching programme.The Clubs main income streams are from annual member subscriptions and our in-house group coaching programme.The Club employs a Director of Coaching, a bar manager, a groundsman and 2 part time administrators, as well as casual part time bar assistants. There are also 6 self-employed coaches and a number of junior coaching assistants.A Board of Directors sets policy and the strategic priorities for the Club in conjunction with the Manager.Purpose of RoleThe Club Manager will be responsible for the overall operation, promotion and development, and day to day management of the Club as a whole.Key ResponsibilitiesRevenue generation

  • drive increased revenue from membership and coaching
  • deliver strong consistent revenue from all the Clubs resources and identify and implement initiatives to create new sources of revenue
  • identify and pursue opportunities for raising funds, such as grants, loans, sponsorships
Marketing
  • drive an appropriate marketing and promotion programme to raise the profile of the Club in order to grow and sustain membership and the coaching programmes
  • deliver professional cohesive communications to members across all mediums and platforms
Administration and operations
  • control the business operations of the Club including budgetary management
  • optimise the use of the Clubs management software to deliver relevant, reliable and timely management information
  • manage suppliers, their contracts and their costs
  • control in conjunction with the Finance Director the Clubs financial administration, ensuring adequate controls and procedures are in place.
  • provide management reports for committee meetings, attending as appropriate
  • assist the Finance Director in the preparation of management accounts, budgets and forecasts as well as the annual financial accounts.
People management and recruitment
  • in conjunction with the Board recruit all staff and ensure appropriate training is given
  • manage the team of support staff
  • provide leadership to promote teamwork and build customer service
Facilities management
  • ensure compliance with relevant legislation in all the Clubs operations
  • manage all contracted service providers, including cleaning
Bar and facilities lettings
  • ensure the bar is offering and delivering that needed to make the facility a hub of the Club and to increase revenues generated from it
  • identify scope for commercial exploitation of the Clubs facilities
Community & Sport engagement
  • maintain and develop relationships with charities, local schools, businesses,
  • Kent County Cricket and our neighbours
  • develop relationships with management of other local tennis clubs to share best practices
  • keep informed of latest information from external bodies such as LTA and engage in local level communication with Kent Tennis and other Clubs.
Volunteer role recruitment
  • support the Board to engage members to engender voluntary involvement in their club
