Job Description

Quality InspectorHayley Rail is the Rail industry focussed division of Hayley Group Plc, the largest independent distributor of engineering products & consumables in the United Kingdom. The Group employs over 800 people and currently turns over £170m, through a network of 46 branches across the UK.Hayley have focused on Rail as a key industry sector for over 12 years and provide their customers with excellent service from their four Rail depots situated in Manchester, Halesowen, Edinburgh and West Thurrock.They have expertise in all areas of the Rail industry and are currently working with Train Operating Companies, Freight Operating Companies, OEM’s and infrastructure partners to deliver products such has Hand Tools, PPE, Fasteners, Power Tools, Lubricants and other industrial products that add value to our customers operations.An exciting position for Quality Inspector has become available at the Hayley Rail - Manchester branch.Job Title: Quality InspectorLocation: Manchester Branch, Unit 48-50, Westbrook Road, Trafford Park, Greater Manchester, M17 1AY.Full Time Working Hours: 40 hours Monday to Friday (Saturday 1 in 4- on Rota)Purpose: Projecting a professional company image through professional communication at all levels, being first point of contact for any technical relating queries, providing confident technical assistance across the product range, assisting quality engineers resolving issues, raising queries with suppliers.Main duties & responsibilities:

  • Daily inspection of incoming and outgoing goods;
  • Initial point of contact for technical queries from customers, suppliers and internally;
  • Assist quality team in smooth running of quality systems;
  • Work closely with QA Engineer and QA Manager, act as a gate keeper for incoming goods.
  • Assist in the development and maintenance of customer and supplier performance data base;
    • To be successful in the above role you might be currently working as a Quality Inspector with sound knowledge of engineering products, feel confident when using measuring equipment and performing simple numerical calculations.Having positive approach and attitude to daily tasks will definitely be an advantage.Knowledge & Skillsrequirements:
  • Proven experience within Quality Inspection;
  • Ability to use measuring equipment (Vernier, Micrometer, Shadowgraph etc), record results and produce clear reports;
  • Experience working to ISO 9001 standards;
  • High standard of communication skills and ability to work as part of a team;
  • Conversant with basic Microsoft software;
  • Able to work with minimum supervision with great attention to details is a must;
  • Fasteners knowledge will be highly advantageous;
  • Mechanical Engineering background but other industries will be considered;
  • Be able to read and understand engineering drawings and technical specifications;
  • Knowledge of FAI, FAIRS, ISIR, PPAP, CoC, 3.1 and any other types of similar documentation necessary;
