Job Description

We currently have a Sewage Pumping Station Manager position available for a motivated individual to join our team based in Totnes Sewage Treatment Works, Totnes on a full time, permanent basis. You will receive a competitive salary of £26,000 to £32,000 per annumplus benefits.South West Water is part of Pennon Group, a successful and stable business which prides itself on sustainability. As our network is spread over a large and often rural area, it can be a challenge to identify and respond quickly enough to potential pollution.To help us improve, we have established a dedicated task force to focus on pollutions and employed more operators to carry out sewer cleansing and pumping station inspections and maintenance. When pollutions happen, as well as responding quickly to minimise any impact on the environment, we are looking very carefully at what caused them and what we can do to prevent them happening again.As our Sewage Pumping Station Manager, you will manage the performance, training & development of the Waste Water Service Field Delivery Team engaged in the day to day operation and maintenance of the Waste Water Pump Station assets within the area. In liaison with the wider team, you will ensure effective planned maintenance (including proactive SPS cleansing programme using internal JetVac capability) of and reactive response to pump stations that supports effective operation of the sewerage network to satisfy customer’s expectations and protect the environment.Responsibilities as our Sewage Pumping Station Manager will include:- Managing the operation and first line maintenance of Sewage Pumping Stations (SPS) and associated assets to achieve the required performance to achieve Company targets, i.e. Energy, Bathing Water Compliance, Pollutions, Odour contacts- Proactively managing SPS interventions including implementing a planned SPS cleansing regime using internal JetVac capability to Minimise Pollutions from SPS to ensure a Pure Environment is maintained- Being responsible for ensuring Health and Safety legal requirements are met and demonstrating a quantifiable improvement in Health and Safety culture- Ensuring teams adhere to the schedules, business rules and procedures and liaise effectively with the Field Support Centres (FSCs) and Maintenance team to ensure asset operability is achieved- Liaising with Maintenance & FSC Manager and the Tactical Support team within Asset Management to optimise the planning and implementation of asset repair and improvement works- Ensuring local operation of strategic contracts within WWS is within contract scope and follows agreed processes. Specifically ensure the requirements of the JVT are discharged effectively- Ensuring personnel issues are managed effectively to optimise employee performance and productivity and support the development and progression of team members- Ensuring the welfare of the field team is assessed and maintained at all times, particularly during event or incident including driver’s hours.- Being responsible for Progression Scheme Delivery; NVQ, SATDD and appraisal reviews in combination with the WWS Performance & Development Manager and training team where necessary- Supporting the Operations Manager in meeting OPEX and Reactive CAPEX budgets- Working in partnership with the Control Centre and SCADA team to deliver the remote operation of assets to achieve required output quality and quantity, and minimise the number of reactive events (alarms) and operational cost- Participating on the Duty Manager standby rotation- Deputising for the Operations Manager at meetings with internal / external customers or other external bodies- Working with the WWS Performance & Development Manager and training team ensure a training & development plan that is engaging and valuable to the team and that ensures regulatory requirements are metWhat we are looking for in our Sewage Pumping Station Manager:- Educated to A Level standard, min of 5 GCSE’s grade A-C, including English, Math & Science (or equivalent level qualifications)- HNC in related discipline preferred- Management qualification or relevant experience preferred- IOSH qualification or ability to complete- Experience of working in either a customer service or operational delivery team- Good communication skills both verbally and written- Ability to lead a high performing team in order to achieve optimum performance preferred- Proficient in the use of MS Office and in using software packages- Able to maintain a high level of commitment to personally getting things done- Effectively organises / plans work according to the needs of the situation by defining objectives clearly and thinking ahead about what will be needed- Resilient with the ability to adapt to changing situations and restructure tasks and priorities as changes occur- Effective team working and collaborating with others toward a common goal- Ability to participate in the Duty Manager standby rotation- Full UK Drivers Licence / Able to travel around the work area using company vehicleClosing date:21st January 2021If you are looking for a new challenge, please click apply now to be considered as our Sewage Pumping Station Manager - we look forward to receiving your application.
