  • We are looking for Senior Mental Health Practitioner to work in our new Liaison Psychiatry Service in Torbay Hospital. Working on a shift based (including weekends and nights) you will play an essential role in providing 24/7 specialist mental health services to those who need them.Based within Torbay Hospital, you will become part of a multi-disciplinary team creating care plans and strategies that deliver recovery-focused care for people with complex mental health needs.You will be a strong confident and capable senior mental health practitioner capable of making decisions that change lives. About you You will be responsible for taking the lead for mental health services in Torbay Hospital, managing a busy caseload and making decisions that affect lives. It will be your job to make specialist mental health assessments, and devise interventions that will help people to recover. You will play a key role in a dynamic multidisciplinary team, working with multiple agencies on a daily basis. You will be confident working without supervision, with the knowledge to devise individual recovery plans for the people you see. It’s important that you can communicate effectively, not only with your colleagues, but the people you care for, their families and carers. You will be at the centre of their care.You will be an experienced mental health professional with a professional mental health qualification (RMN, CQSW / ASW, BSc/Diploma in OT, SROT)We will help you grow in the role, and can provide a range of training opportunities, including our respected preceptorship programme, that can help you develop the skills you need to thrive in the job.Previous applicants need not apply. About us The Liaison Psychiatry Service will provide a 24/7 in and out of hour’s comprehensive service to patients, clinicians and carers at Torbay Hospital from March 31st 2018.The service includes specialist mental health assessment and interventions for people over the age of 18 who present or, are admitted to Torbay Hospital. We provide a specialist consultation-liaison service to referring clinicians and clinical teams, assisting them in decision making in difficult and complex cases. We provide both formal and informal education to qualified and unqualified staff, and offer a broad range of specialist psychosocial treatments for individual inpatients.One of the key aims of the service is to contribute to the acute care pathway and inpatient wards, ensuring that people who need it receive a timely specialist mental health assessment by a specialist mental health worker. A significant proportion of these presentations will be those who present with acts of self-harm and suicidal behaviours, as well as older people with complex presentations and co-morbidities.As well as delivering services, our staff play a key role in representing Devon Partnership Trust in the general hospital setting and will play a vital role in communicating and maintaining a good working relationship between the two organizations.Join us at Devon Partnership NHS Trust and you’ll be joining an award-winning organisation that is passionate about mental health and learning disability.
