Job Description

Quantity SurveyorThe LocationOffice based, Torquay - with regular travel across the Southwest. The CompanyWith a rich history dating back to 1923, Cavanna Homes is the South West’s largest independent house builder. Now run by the third generation of Cavannas, we construct beautiful new homes that customers love.We are now seeking a Quantity Surveyor to join our team on a permanent, full-time basis.About The RoleAs a Quantity Surveyor, you will deliver support and advice across all aspects of projects and developments to maximise profitability.Boosting our margin, you will focus on value engineering, effective procurement, managing contractor accounts, identifying opportunities, mitigating risks and optimising our cash flow.Aiming to achieve best value and the highest quality standards, you’ll produce robust scope of works, analyse and compare tenders and prepare sub-contractor documentation.Additionally, you will:- Monitor and report on targets and all aspects of costs- Support company teams to meet targets- Administer affordable housing development and sub-contract agreements- Maintain working relationships with internal and external customersAbout YouTo be considered as a Quantity Surveyor, you will need:- Previous experience in quantity surveying and/or commercial departments in construction- Experience of project cost management and reconciliation- Experience negotiating with supply chain and/or external parties- Knowledge and understanding of Valuation & Budgeting Systems, Health & Safety and/or CDM regulations, LABC and/or NHBC requirements and other associated legislation- Knowledge and understanding of construction details and drawings- Experience using databases, specifically Excel- Strong negotiating and collaboration skills- A relevant industry higher-level qualification- A full, valid driving licenceWhat you’ll get in return- Competitive salary- 25 days’ holiday per year, plus Bank Holidays and additional holidays awarded for length of service- Purchase an additional week of holiday- Private Healthcare for yourself and family- Life Assurance X3- 6% employer pension contributions- Medicash Health Cash Back Scheme- Cycle to work scheme up to the value of £3,500- Discount on purchase of a Cavanna Home- Mental Health support including access to up to 13 face to face counselling sessionsThis is an exceptional opportunity for a Quantity Surveyor or commercial construction professional with experience of project cost management to join our established company.You’ll have the chance to be a valued contributor to our continued success, enabling us to continue to deliver our trusted expertise and achieve excellence in all that we do.Whilst you’re helping us build homes, we’ll help you build your career!
