Job Description

We are currently recruiting for a MARAC Administrator to work for Devon and Cornwall Police at their Torquay Police Station.This is a temporary role working Monday to Friday 37 hours a week.To provide a professional and confidential administrative support service to identified customers (individual, team or unit). This support may involve some or all of the following activities, along with other administrative support tasks in keeping withthe grade of the role.

  • Be personally responsible for administering elements of one or more processes, following specific and laid down procedures and to established force or national professional/function-area standards.
  • Maintain all paper and electronic record systems, updating or amending records in line with organisational policy and procedural guidelines.
  • Update and where appropriate interrogate databases and other data sources, downloading data and manipulating or presenting information in an appropriate format.
  • Draft from scratch basic letters, guidance notes or other word based material using more complex layouts and formatting and develop straightforward letter or document layouts to meet agreed standards
  • Act as point of contact within the MARAC team, to internal and external contacts; providing a customer focused response to telephone and/or face to face enquiries or requests from agencies and members of the public that may involve some specialist knowledgeor subject matter expertise.
  • Inputting complex data into computer systems and bespoke databases or spreadsheets, entering information correctly, in accordance with legislative requirements and Force policy.
  • Create and update basic spreadsheets and word documents for use in managing and monitoring activity such as, for example, budgetary spend, duties, overtime allocation, stores inventory and action sheets/issue logs, attending any relevant meetings if appropriate.
In addition, there are some functions that are intrinsic to the role. An employers duty of care and current legislation allows the Force to establish if a potential applicant could carry them out, either with or without reasonable adjustments. These functionsare:Working with Disturbing Evidence/Observation of Disturbing Circumstances and working with Vulnerable People.To assist in ensuring applicants would be able to undertake these functions of the role, it will be necessary for the enhanced medical questionnaire provided with the application material to be completed. A medical assessment of the information providedin that questionnaire will be undertaken and may subsequently require a consultation with the Occupational Health Support Unit.ESSENTIAL CRITERIA
  • Experience of working in an office environment in an administrative function
  • Proven or demonstrable skills in the Microsoft Office suite of product
  • Demonstrable ability to gather information from a number of sources and present that information in an appropriate manner
  • Good planning, organising and time management skills
  • Proven ability to work effectively without close supervision
  • Proven people skills, with the ability to interact well with members of the public and meet customer expectations
  • Demonstrable ability to liaise effectively with internal and external stakeholders and representatives
