Job Description

The role

  • We are looking for Band 6 Senior CAMHS Mental Health Practitioners who are passionate about developing and improving the quality of care for young people and children in crisis, to work within our Crisis and Home Treatment Team. The successful candidates will be integrated with the rest of the Torbay CAMHS team, sharing a base within Torquay.You will join our CAMHS team, which is part of Children and Family Health Devon, at an exciting time of change. The successful candidate can also expect to join a warm, friendly and supportive team who strive to provide excellent care. This was recently evidenced and celebrated at The Nursing Times Awards 2018, where we won the category of adolescent mental health services.The Crisis Team’s operational hours are 09.00 – 22.00 (Mon-Fri) and 09.00-17.00 (Sat- Sun and bank holidays) with the team working a variety of shift patterns including long days (dependent on service needs).Our Children and Young People say…“We would like the people who work for Child and Family Health Devon to be understanding, patient and respectful. About you You will be an experienced and qualified CAMHS professional with a core registrable qualification. You will be able to work alongside colleagues in a multi-disciplinary team and develop relationships across agencies to meet the needs of children and families. The ability to adapt communication and intervention style to meet individual need is important and you will have knowledge of child development and child protection procedures.Assessing the mental health and risk of children and young people who are often in crisis and or high levels of distress is a core part of this role. You will be required to work flexibly across a range of clinical, community and home-based settings to meet the needs of the child.You will be responsible for providing therapeutic intervention that is strengths-focused, evidence-based and tailored to meet the needs of the child/young person and their family/carer. Supervision of more junior staff and trainees is expected to be part of your role as you share your skills and knowledge with those around you.Interview date is to be confirmed.
