Job Description

Butler Rose are currently partnered with a manufacturing business in the Torbay area, who currently require the assistance of a Buyer to work within the team, and assist with the development of the purchasing function for the organisation.The roleReporting to the Purchasing Manager, this role is accountable for all aspects of purchasing, ranging from sourcing of new suppliers, contract negotiation, expediting and ensuring stock availability to allow production to be optimised. Duties include (butare not limited to):

  • Develop and maintain proactive working relationships with supply base.
  • Negotiate and commit purchase orders aligned to schedule requirements
  • Interrogation of bill of materials leading to sourcing decision making
  • Negotiate and implement partnership agreements with preferred suppliers
  • Update and communicate latest lead-time situation for responsible categories
  • Identification and implementation of cost saving and working capital initiatives
  • Identify, qualify and implement new and secondary sources of supply or alternative product ranges thus mitigating supply risk
  • Resolution of supplier queries; liaison with relevant departments and timely response to suppliers
  • Provide quotations in furtherance of spares revenue stream enquiries
  • Hold review meetings with key suppliers to discuss delivery / quality performance and ensuring that improvement plans and non-conformances are closed in the required time frame.
  • Support Supplier compliance by liaising with the Quality Team to evaluate & monitor suppliers
To be chosen for the role
  • You will need to be computer literate with a strong knowledge of Microsoft Office (in Excel)
  • A proven track record in purchasing or supply chain
  • Strong communication skills and a good attention to detail
