Accountant BookkeeperAre you looking to join a team where you feel you belong, where what you do is appreciated and where notice is taken of what you say If so, then this is the opportunity you are looking for.When you join us, youll become part of a close team, working from modern offices two minutes from the centre of sunny Torquay and just fifteen minutes walk to the harbour and beaches. And weve got free parking just across the road from the office.You will join the bookkeeping team, which are the eyes and ears of the practice. Youll be seeing whats happening first-hand with our customers on a day-to-day basis. You will have regular contact with our customers, and most of the work is completed inthe office with only a few working at their premises.Youll be joining a team thats always looking for ways to improve how we do things, including our bookkeeping and VAT return processing using automation where we can. We dont spend ages on tasks like processing sales and purchase invoices when the computerscan do the work!We meet regularly as a team to share whats happening, and you can contribute to the development of the business.Youll have a personal development plan, and your manager will go through this with you each month to help you achieve all that you want to achieve.Theres always coffee on the go, unlimited tea and soft drinks, a treat cupboard (when you need a sugar boost) and fruit if you want a healthy snack! I started as an apprentice, and Im now a qualified accounting technician. The main work that I started with, and am still involved with, is bookkeeping and doing vat returns for our customers and the work connectedto that, like training customers on Xero. I love my work as I get to work closely with my customers and find out whats happening in their businesses. Theres a relaxed and supportive environment with lots of opportunities to progress."Benefits:Your salary will be between £25K and £29K depending on your experience (see below) for a 37.5-hour week, and youll have flexitime available. Youll get a company pension and health insurance with 25 days of holiday (plus bank holidays) each year.You will be responsible for looking after our customers financial record keeping, which includes bookkeeping, sales and purchase ledger reconciliations, control account reconciliations (e.g. VAT and wages control accounts), VAT returns, CIS return preparation,setting up bookkeeping systems, producing supplier payment lists, processing accruals and prepayments, helping clients with invoice templates on Xero, training clients on Xero and advising on allowable expenses. The software you will be using includes Xerofor the bookkeeping and Dext (Receiptbank), and Brightpay for the CIS returns.To be considered for this position, you will need at least five years experience working in an accountancy practice and have the AAT qualification. For the role, you will need to be able to work in an organised and accurate way and have good communicationskills as you will be working directly with our customers and their teams. We are looking for a candidate with good knowledge of VAT return processing and administration. You need to be able to use Xero confidently and be able to use Dext (Receiptbank) thoughtraining for this will be given.
