Job Description

Working for the R&D Manager the Product Designer will design new products, components and the improvement of existing parts. The role will also include maintaining the drawing database, processing requests for minor design changes and producing manufacturingdrawings for approved variants of existing products.The successful candidate will use their creative design and problem solving skills on a variety of projects and will liaise on a regular basis with the cross group multi-disciplinary team of design and production engineers, scientists and technical experts.This job would ideally suit those who have recently graduated from university or college and/or who are in the early stages of their chosen career path in technical design.Main duties and responsibilities:

  • Involved in design projects and continuous improvements
  • Scope of work will include the use of e.g. sketch, CAD, prototype, testing, reworking drawings where required, etc.
  • Maintain current design / drawing database and write procedural documents
  • Assisting R&D Manager in product developmentexisting or new
Experience & Skills
  • Ideally degree qualified (or equivalent) in mechanical / design
  • Good problem solving abilities
  • Knowledge of pattern drawing (desirable)
  • Understanding of patterns, sewing, gluing, welding
  • Experience with plastic and rubber moulding
  • Working under pressure
  • CAD proficient e.g. Autocad, SolidEdge, Gemini
  • Excellent communication skillsverbal and written
  • Good computer skills e.g. Office, etc.
