Job Description

Due to changes in legislation and my clients desire to be at the forefront of innovation, they have created a Head of Packaging position, which will take full responsibility for the innovation and implemenation of their full product range.Client DetailsWell known produce harvesting and processing company, going through a period of growth which is looking for a Head of Packaging to join the team.DescriptionThe key responsibilities of the Head of Packaging include:

  • Day to day interfacing with account managers on packaging material, labels, outers and pallets
  • Checking and signing off new artwork designs, ensuring designs are machine compatible and adhere to legal and regulatory requirements
  • Communication to our grower base re the UK retailers requirements for packaging material, labels, outers.
  • Innovative packaging developments in line with company ethos and strategy
  • Due diligence on each retail account for packaging, to make sure new packaging is in line with specifications
  • Training of staff internally re packaging and labelling requirements
  • Negotiating the cost of packaging material, labels, outers with suppliers
  • Managing the profit and loss for the packaging department
  • Managing the packaging requisites team based at the office
  • Interfacing with the technical department on any potential technical issues
  • Interfacing with the commercial team to answer any questions they may have
    • ProfileThe successful Head of Packaging will:
  • Have previous experience in a similar role, ideally from an FMCG background
  • Someone who takes an interest in packaging legislation and industry innovations
  • Strong appreciation of the business needs and resourcefulness in coming up with solutions to their challenges
  • Ability to relate to key client personnel in a professional and credible fashion
  • Good interpersonal skills and well developed leadership and management skills, creativity and ability to delegate effectively and to follow-up as appropriate
  • Clear understanding of Technical and Regulatory issues surrounding packaging
