My client, a leading logistics provider, is looking to recruit an Oceanfreight Pricing and Carrier Manager for its office in Tilbury. This is a senior role reporting to the Ocean Freight Director.Role: Seafreight Carrier and Pricing ManagerLocation: Tilbury, EssexPackage: highly competitiveIndustry: Freight Forwarding/Oceanfreight/Seafreight/ShippingPURPOSE OF ROLETo be responsible for managing & developing new and existing carrier relationships, UK & Overseas, negotiating spot & long-term contracts and for managing our customer quotations & sell rate process. To support and input into all tender responses and achieve deadlines as set by the sales team.Authority levelTo enter into contractual agreements as approved by the Seafreight Management team and in accordance with company credit policy for Clients and Suppliers.To supervise any staff allocated and ensure their full compliance on all policies and procedures.Overall responsibilityThe day to day operation of our Seafreight carrier relationship program and commercial activities under your control ( as agreed which may change from time to time ) ensuring all systems are used correctly with special care and attention paid to Client Tariffs, Multi Freight & One World.To be responsible for managing & developing new and existing carrier relationships, UK & Overseas, negotiating spot & long-term contracts and for managing our customer quotations & sell rate process. To support and input into all tender responses and achieve deadlines as set by the sales team.General responsibilitiesWill be required to travel domestically and internationally to carrier & client meetings and attend corporate events.Implement carrier strategy as agreed and directed by Seafreight management.Ensure all tenders are supported and responded within the specific timelines set by sales channel.Comply with company policies and make sure they are up to date and your staff are familiar with all.Protect the interests of the business at all times and escalate any areas of concern to the management.Be commercially astute and ensure that the services are always making a profit.Specific ResponsibilitiesEvaluation and qualification of all RFQ/Tender documents.Understand, utilise and develop pricing structure and the main operating system.Ensure that all RFQ/tenders are prepared and submitted by given due dates.In conjunction with Seafreight Management team develop a full carrier strategy document so include all UK and Overseas carrier locations.Establish, developing and maintain effective relationships, SLA’s and KPI’s with all key ocean carriers.Maintain an ongoing RFQ/Tender register/LogEnsure close interaction with Sales to increase tender opportunities & pipeline.Analytical reporting including any loss-making customers.Inspiring, developing and motivating direct reports.Improving hit rate on adhoc quotes.Maintaining valid tariff’s for both customers and overseas partners.Ability to set staff developments plans and monitor performance.Review monthly hit rates and put in place procedures to ensure that our hit rate success is improved and evaluated.
