Job Description

This is an exciting time to join our Debt Management Services team as our Finance Back Office Team Lead!Sopra Steria Debt Management Services strives to provide total care for Debtors and Clients throughout the collections lifecycle. The digital transformation solutions we are putting in place, help our clients drive real business change, resulting in achievingbetter strategic, financial, citizen and employee outcomes.Our vision is to become the market leader in End-to-End debt management services, with a clear focus on ethics and vulnerability, making sure we exceed the baseline requirements of the FCAs Treating Customers Fairly (TCF) agenda.We have developed an approach which will help government departments to reduce operational costs, improve collections rates and make sure debtors are cared for at every stage of the collections lifecycle. Weve crafted a Debt Management process which considersthe organisations need for timely collection, as well as the debtors requirements at each stage of the lifecycle.We have now been successfully appointed to the Crown Commercial Service, Debt Recovery Services Framework and under this, public sector organisations (the Buyers) are now able to utilise our debt recovery services.As the Finance Back Office Team Lead, you will play a meaningful role in the day-to-day management of the service delivered under the DRS Framework and/or Buyer Call off Contracts. The role reports into the Debt Recovery Services (DRS), Managed Service Provider,Head of Service and is hybrid position whereby you will work remotely with occasional face to face meetings for collaboration, client, and team meetings.What youll be doing:

  • Management of Finance and Back Office Transactional processes
  • Manage and schedule own and team work to required timescales and to achieve performance targets
  • Coaching, leadership, and management of staff
  • Raise any issues of service incidents in a timely manner to ensure senior management are informed and ensuring incidents are investigated
  • Collating and where necessary produce/analyse statistical data/reports as required
  • The delivery of continuous improvement initiatives to drive customer satisfaction and process improvements
  • Ensure the team understands the role of Sopra Steria Financial Services in the delivery of debt collection services to our clients and our obligations to them and the Managed Service Provider
What youll bring:
  • Experience of managing a Finance or Transactional team, with proven success
  • Ability to work under pressure with competing priorities, to strict deadlines and with minimum supervision
  • Ability to make decisions
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Ability to develop good working relationships with colleagues and clients
  • Experience of working towards targets and deadlines
  • Expert understanding of relevant systems e.g. Oracle
  • Highly developed user of Excel, Word, PowerPoint
  • Able to influence behaviour of colleagues and clients
  • Able to identify areas of weakness and recommend improvements
  • Ability to manage a budget (FTEs, overtime)
  • Ability to set and achieve performance targets
It would be great if you had:
  • Order to Cash, Accounts Receivable or Debt Recovery experience
  • Experience or understanding of file integrations
  • An understanding of Direct Debit processes and guidelines
  • Experience of Sage or other Finance ERPs
  • Experience of working within a multi-client environment
