Job Description

Management AccountantThetford, NorfolkFull time, Permanent£37,119 per annum + 11% employer pension contributionBritish Trust for Ornithology (BTO) are looking for a Management Accountant who will be responsible for ensuring that the accounting system and the financial reports provided to management, trustees, auditors and funders accurately reflect the financialposition of the Trust and provide the information necessary for sound management and governance.The Accounts department consists of 4 other staff managed by Director of Finance & Services, Andrew Scott. The post holder will work with our long serving Management Accountant (now working part time), Finance Assistant, who will report directly to the postholder, Financial Accountant and Finance Assistant. Additionally, the role involves interacting with a range of other BTO staff at all levels.BTO is a UK charity that focuses on understanding birds and, in particular, how and why bird populations are changing. Specialist charity accounting knowledge is therefore essential.The successful applicant will have excellent technical accounting skills, including accounts preparation to final accounts, fluency in one or more mid-range accounting software packages, good working knowledge of PAYE and VAT, and advanced level Excel skills.This position is based at our HQ in Thetford, Norfolk, although you will be able to work from home part of the time on a hybrid working regime.You can read the full role description by clicking on the role description under supporting documents in the job details on our careers page.
