Job Description

Field Service Engineer sought, Devon & Somerset. Girling Jones are working alongside a well-established, family owned and operated sewage and water treatment business based in, and serving the South West of the UK. Delivering design, construction and maintenance of various sewage and water treatment works to domestic and commercial clients spanning circa 30 years, you will be joining a settled yet progressive business offering clear route for professional development and growth.Your new employer,

  • Designing, construction and maintaining a range of sewage treatment and water pumping systems, commissioning of newly installed sewage treatment and water pumping systems and performance monitoring of these systems, both products installed and commissioned by the business but also 3rd party installations.
    • Day to day,
  • The primary function of the role will be to provide preventative and reactive service maintenance to a range of sewage treatment and water pumping systems, commissioning of newly installed sewage treatment and water pumping systems and performance monitoring of these systems
  • The role requires that you will work independently with occasions to work within a small team, therefore you will have primary responsibility for the quality and execution of your work
  • Fault diagnosis, repair, maintenance and installation on a range of sewage treatment and water pumping systems
  • Performance monitoring of sewage treatment and water pumping systems including the sampling of final effluent, field testing of ammonical nitrogen, dissolved oxygen and noise levels
  • Documentation of service activities and requirements
  • Commissioning of completed installations with relevant documentation
    • What youll need to succeed,
  • Due to the nature of the work, you will ideally be mechanically biased with an understanding of motors, pumps, gearboxes, compressor systems etc but an electrical understanding would be highly advantageous.
  • Full clean drivers licence
  • Electrical / Mechanical experience and competence
  • Technically minded with good problem-solving capability
  • British Water Accredited Service Engineer would be beneficial
  • Confined spaces qualification required
  • Manual handling qualification would be beneficial
  • 18th edition electrical qualification would be beneficial
  • Knowledge of package sewage treatment plants would be beneficial
  • Knowledge of drainage systems, pumps, pump stations, air compressors, etc would be beneficial
  • Knowledge of water-testing would be beneficial
