Job Description

Our client is transforming medical diagnostics. By utilising and developing innovative technologies, such as genomic sequencing, personalised screening and state-of-the-art diagnostics to reduce levels of acute illness and support good health, our client will revolutionise healthcare.Our client will also work collaboratively with their partners to deliver bespoke, flexible diagnostic services that genuinely make a difference and fulfil a local need.Job Purpose/Key Tasks:The Clinical Specialist Radiographer will work closely as part of the multi-disciplinary team in the centres and with referrers and staff from the partner NHS Trust organisation.

  • To carry out high-quality diagnostic imaging examinations in a way which meets patients’ needs within the Diagnostic Centre
  • To assess patients and decide upon the most appropriate way to gain a successful imaging examination, adapting the technique to take account of the patient’s physical and mental condition
  • To provide clinical expertise and supervision in the diagnostic Departments, (MRI, CT, Plain Film) including the training and mentoring of Radiographers and support staff
  • To perform MRI and CT examinations to provide diagnostic images relevant to the Imaging request.
  • To undertake Plain Film radiography as necessary
  • To utilise specialist knowledge in MRI and CT to ensure images achieved are of the highest possible standard and quality
  • To assist the lead diagnostic radiographer to develop the overall diagnostic service
  • To take part in the shift, weekend services where the service requires
  • To be responsible for the day to day organisation of a scanner as required
  • Supervision and teaching of junior staff and students in the centre within cross sectional Imaging and Plain film modalities as necessary
  • Supervision and training of MRI Assistant Practitioners as required
  • To plan, organise and prioritise own patient workload and assist in that of junior staff
  • To train and supervise staff (radiographic and non-radiographic) enabling them to become fully conversant with the duties applicable to them
  • To train and assess student radiographers, junior radiographers and radiographic helpers as required
  • To deputise for the Lead Radiographer in the department if required
  • To be a super used for IEP, CRIS PACS and PACS Mail systems and help to train other users, including clerical and clinical staff
  • Place of Work:Your normal place of work will be Taunton however you may/will be required to travel in the course of your duties to attend meetings and other appointments. Travel and reasonable expenses will be paid in line with the Company’s Expenses Policy Required skills
