Are you at the start of your career in education Could you support autistic childrenAre you passionate about helping children who have sensory and/or physical needs Five Education have a new vacancy that is perfect for someone looking to start their career in education. The school is for Special Educational Needs (SEN) children of varied ages. The needs of the children range from specific learning difficulties, for example,dyslexia to children who have Speech, Language and Communication Needs (SLCN). The school also caters to children who have Profound and Multiple Learning Difficulties (PMLD). The person chosen needs to be adaptable and keen to learn how to assist these childrenwith their progress at school. The school is based in Somerset. The right candidate will be someone who is wanting to learn more about SEN and develop skills and experience with these types of learners. You will need to be adaptable, quick to follow instructions and willing and able to engagepositively with children who have Multi Sensory Impairment (MSI).The role will involve working alongside classroom teachers to support the learning of identified pupils. This includes assisting with the differentiation of lessons and ensuring that tasks are tailored to the individual pupil and their specific progress. Attimes the role will require you to work 1:1 or with small groups with pupils who have Autism Spectrum Discorder (ASD). You will need to be patient, kind and have excellent interpersonal skills. The hours will be 8:30-15:30 and we are looking for someone to work 3 days a week. If you think this could be a job for you, please get in touch to find out more.Responsibilities and duties:-Working with class teachers to deliver excellent learning activities and pastoral support.-Working with a child individually on a 1:1 basis.-Supporting assessment and evidencing learning.-Building relationships with the pupils.-Maintaining a safe and positive environment.-Creating opportunities for all learners to reach their potential, irrespective of ability. -Meeting the pupils individual needs and ensuring tasks are differentiated towards them.
