Lead Software DeveloperLocation: Taunton Salary: £42,507 - £45,571 dependent on skill set, with a possible Recruitment and Retention Allowance of £10,000 Short SummaryAs a Lead, youll provide technical leadership for a small delivery team of developers who are currently supporting and modifying mainly .Net software. Youll be hands-on coding yourself as well as making sure that the whole team creates great quality software. Most importantly, youll ensure everyone is able to contribute their best ideas and that the team is smart about how it does its work.Youll be joining a software development practice of 40 developers. Right now, we have people pursuing certification in Azure, AWS, Kubernetes and Security; we have others on management training courses; we even have people on Masters Degree programmes. Within this practice, the community of Lead Developers provides technical leadership for the department, recommending tools, technologies and techniques for adoption. This group contains people with various specialisms and levels of experience who all support each other in their roles, exploring what it means to be a Lead. Everything we do is team based. We take Agile seriously; your delivery team will be small but will have the people it needs to get things done - developers, testers, product owner and a delivery manager - as well as access to infrastructure specialists, UX experts and analysts. Quality is paramount. You and your team will be supported to do good work. Most code is done in pairs or larger groups to ensure quality and spread knowledge. Everyone reviews code and everyone welcomes feedback. We strive to automate as much as possible; testing, builds, deployments use the latest tools available.We offer a great work / life balance. Job Description Candidate can expect to be involved in the following: *Technically lead an agile team, designing and crafting software solutions, including unit testing and pair programming. The team are currently focussed on supporting existing systems, so a lot of the work will involve responding to incidents, meetings SLAs and carrying out a programme of small improvements to the software.*Ensure effective use of automated testing and deployment to build and support a continuous delivery environment *Collaborate with others in the development community, identifying good practices we can adopt and sharing our experiences *Share knowledge of tools and techniques with the wider team*Continually develop your own skills as part of a programme of continuous professional development Key skills *A good understanding of .Net *Experience in providing technical leadership*Broad knowledge of design principles and patterns, able to lead the design of systems or components and of CI / CD delivery pipelines*A broad range of commercial experience, including crafting good quality code in .Net*Working together*Communicating and influencing*Developing self and othersCertes Computing (and all of its subsidiary companies) is committed to promoting equality and diversity in its business operations.
