Job Description

Reed Talent Solutions are currently working with a Taunton based Central Government organisation to recruit a Junior Data Analyst/Product Specialist on a 6-month temporary basis. The role will ideally be suitable for individuals who have a strong attentionto detail and/or are looking to pick up valuable experience working within an Engineering/Marine/Geopsatialir Public Sector organisation.Role Information

  • Site based in Taunton
  • £11 per hour pay rate

Key Responsibilities
  • The team is responsible for the production and ongoing maintenance of Standard Navigational Charts including our Thematics series of charts. This role contributes to Paper Products Group outputs across the Groups’ teams. The post holder delivers routinework within specified standards and timescales using general guidance often supplemented by more specific instructions.
  • Tasks will vary between teams. Post holders will be assigned to a team but will then rotate to enable completion of training and competency periods. All post holders will be trained and developed to reach Operation Performance Standards in both Chart Productionand CUIA.
  • GIS and database management: updating, manipulating, maintaining, searching and extracting data from UKHO databases in support of production activities. Error checking to ensure accuracy and consistency of metadata.
  • Product updates: using production systems to complete rules-based editing of UKHO products. For example, drafting Notice to Mariners text, creating Tracing snapshot images and updating chart raster bases.
  • Simple compilation including; job creation, administration, setting up tasks for use of third-party support and post publication tasks.
  • Additional supporting tasks, including research in support of navigational products, maintaining spreadsheets and some archiving and administration tasks.
Essential Criteria
  • Good IT skills with experience of learning and applying new, non-MS software packages
  • Good attention to detail
  • Experience of analysing or manipulating data
  • An understanding of Geographic Information Systems (GIS)
  • Basic knowledge of the UKHO and our navigational products and services
