Job Description

Development Engineer - Furniture Job Title: Development Engineer - FurnitureJob reference Number: 444717-9605-23318Industry Sector: Development Engineer, Product Engineer, Product Development, Workspace, Inventor, Solidworks, Furniture, Office Furniture, Tables, Chairs, Stools, Sofa, Storage Units, Architects, Interior DesignersLocation: Taunton or surrounding areasRemuneration: £35,000 - £45,000 (depending on experience)Benefits: Full benefits packageThe role of the Development Engineer - Furniture will involve:

  • Product Development Engineer role dealing with a high quality manufactured range of furniture for example: tables, chairs, stools, storage units, benches, desks
  • Develop and launch products from concept through to manufacture
  • Produce and control manufacturing drawings for client orders
  • Develop working prototypes for Design, Sales and Operations teams
  • Write technical specifications, SOPs and quality standards for all products and packaging
  • Continuous research into materials and process to ensure products are made to the highest standards
  • Produce CNC programmes (3 and 5 axis) for manufacture of both joinery and upholstery
The ideal applicant will be a Development Engineer - Furniture with:
  • Must have a strong background in product development
  • Ideally dealt with related products such as: furniture, joinery, upholstery, workspaces, chairs, desks, sofas, booths, stools, tables, office furniture, fit-out etc
  • Experienced 2D & 3D AutoCAD user (Inventor & Solidworks)
  • Ideally will have a Mechanical Engineering qualification or similar
  • Ideally familiar with ERP & MRP systems (Winman)
  • Highly motivated and able to work on own initiative
  • Excellent communication skills both written and verbal
  • Ability to manage multiple projects / problem solving attitude
