Job Description

Role: Curriculum LeadLocation: Taunton, SomersetContract Type: Full Time, Temp to PermSalary: Paid to ScaleIf you want to make your mark in a successful and flourishing school that is committed to improving the lives of children and young people, we have the role for you! We are looking for a Curriculum lead to join our independent specialist SEMH school from September2023. There may be an opportunity for this placement to be extended and even permanency for the right candidate.Our client is a mixed independent specialist day school for children aged 10 to 18, catering for around 50 children, across the Autistic spectrum with associated co-morbid needs. Their dedicated team of staff work together to ensure successful outcomes forstudents who often arrive at the school with a troubled view of education and life.Nurturing aspiration to progress the pupils both academically and socially to encourage them to take pride in their achievements. Socially, building condence in their students, so they can have a greater understanding of the broader community in which theylive.Core responsibilities:

  • Have overall responsibility for all teaching and learning within the department/faculty.
  • Ensure, through the effective operation of assessment, recording and reporting systems that all pupils within the department meet agreed targets, and shall ensure that schemes of work include provision for personalised learning.
  • Ensure that all members of the department/faculty are performing as effectively and efficiently as possible and ensure to the best of her/his ability, that the department/faculty is adequately resourced to fulfil its function within the school.
  • Contribute to curriculum development and timetabling as required.
  • Oversee the preparation of schemes of work and lead, develop and enhance the teaching of other teachers within the department/faculty.
  • Work within the school’s professional development programme to ensure that s/he and the members of the department/faculty keep their knowledge and expertise up to-date.
  • Play a key role in the appointment of staff within the department/faculty, and shall put in place arrangements for the mentoring of newly qualified and trainee teachers within her/his subject area/s as required.
