Job Description

Five Education are working with a school in Taunton, Somerset. We are recruiting a Teacher to deliver content to young people who have Autism and/or SEMH (Social, Emotional & Mental Health) needs. Some of the students will have additional needs includingchallenging behaviour and SpLD (ADHD, Dyslexia, Dyspraxia and Dyscalculia). This role is due to start ASAP and is likely to be ongoing, at least until the next half term. The school are looking for candidates who have experience supporting children and/or young people with SEND, ideally Autism and SEMH. The pupils highly benefit from being at the school. In some cases, their attendance to school dramatically improves their lifechances and the choices they make for their future. You will join a dedicated and motivated staff team. The school will consider people at the start of their teaching career. They are also interested in hearing from those who have transferable skills fromother similar industries. Candidates who have been working towards obtaining teacher training qualifications will be considered, as well as experienced teachers. You may be an experienced facilitator/ instructor or someone who has worked as a HLTA. Experience of SEMH/ SEND is desirable, but the right person will benefit from training and CPD opportunities. You will be eager to develop your pedagogy by learning moreabout how ACEs (Adverse Childhood Experiences) impact upon pupils. Teaching materials and resources are provided. However, the school encourage individuality; therefore you are welcome to adapt learning materials to make your lessons more accessible and engaging. The successful candidate will benefit from a pay rate dependent on experience. If you are a resilient and a highly motivating individual, then we really want to hear from you!Responsibilities and duties:-Support pupils in the classroom to make progress in their education.-Evidence differentiation in all tasks, so that all students can access the curriculum.-Implement behaviour management tools.-Help students to develop self-regulation techniques, and learn when they need to employ them. -Teach the curriculum using existing resources as well as using your own initiative to engage pupils. -Track and evidence pupil progress.Essential Criteria:-A flexible and resourceful approach-At least 12 months of experience supporting/teaching children/ young people in an educational, care or coaching environment-Ideally, you will have experience supporting/teaching children or young people with SEND-Have a right to work in the UK (A Valid Visa)-Two recent child-based references and relevant DBS/ Police checks-Access to bicycle, car or near main bus routes. -Able to work 8.30-3.30, 5 days per week term time onlyEssential criteria:-Previous experience working with individuals with SEN/Autism/Complex Needs/SEMH.-Have a right to work in the UK (A Valid Visa).-At least one recent child-based reference and relevant DBS/ Police checks.What can Five Education offer you-One of the best supply experiences in Bristol - check out our google reviews!-Free specialised, in-person training in areas such as Team Teach, Makaton, PMLD/SLD Awareness, Autism Awareness, and more. -Free DBS (refunded when you work 5 days).-Subsidised initial DBS cost (we pay £15, you pay £30).-Specialist support/ mentoring while you are working.If you think this could be a job for you, please get in touch to find out more.
