A bit about us We are looking for Apprentice Instructors to join our SSE Outdoors team for a period of 12 months, working 34 hours per week on an annualised basis in our activity centres based at Kilve Court (Bridgwater), Great Wood (Over Stowey) and Charterhouse (Mendips).SSE Outdoors is the largest provider of Outdoor Education in Somerset and enjoys a reputation for high quality and standards. The Centres offer a variety of outdoor activities and educational courses. The sites are situated in a fantastic position in Somerset with immediate access to a variety of outdoor locations.Every year, children visit our Centres and you will be key in making their days special, memorable, fun and challenging. As well as leading activities and training, each and every week you will support our Hospitality teams cleaning and preparing the Centre for groups arriving. By the end of the year, we aim to have prepared you for a career in the outdoor industry. Heres what you can expect to be doing This post is designed to provide a challenging and interesting year within our Somerset Residential Outdoor Centres. During this year you will complete an Outdoor Practitioner Apprenticeship (level 3, which is equivalent to 2 A-levels).We can provide all accommodation, some meals and a wage of £4.15 (or you can choose not to live in our accommodation and earn £4.45 per hour).There will be no such thing as typical week during your year with us, but there will be a great deal of training. In the first two months we aim to train you up through our in-house training programme to deliver at least 3 of our activities (such as team building sessions, grass sledging and fossil hunts on the beach). You will then deliver these sessions regularly, and with support develop your group management skills. We will also provide at least 3 National Governing Body training courses. A few things about you You will need to have a passion for working in the outdoors, have good communication skills and be expected to interact with a variety of customers.
