Job Description

My client is a Global Third Party Logistics Provider based in Tamworth.They are looking for an experienced Transport Manager to lead their start up distribution operation in the Midlands.Client DetailsMy client is a Global Logistics specialist who have moved into a brand new facility in Tamworth.The start up operation requires an experienced Transport Manager to help build a best in class logistics operation.DescriptionKey Responsibilities include:

  • To lead and promote excellent Leadership standards and practices
  • To deliver the operational targets and drive forward the improvement plans.
  • Ensure an efficient and professional level of service is provided to all customers working with the HO Commercial team.
  • Ensure company policy is adhered to on all aspects of administration, in particular van and depot stock controls.
  • Ensuring all failings are monitored and recorded in accordance to company policy.
  • Support with planning of manning levels, recruitment, training, development and the discipline of the team.
  • Communicate, motivate, train and develop your team of drivers effectively.
  • Effectiveness of product recording, material entries and controlling stock movement.
  • Understand and ensure that you implement and comply with the Company Health & Safety Policies and Procedures.
  • Understand and ensure that you implement and comply with the HACCP and Quality Manual, also meeting all requirements.
  • Ensure 100% adherence to all relevant quality systems
  • Responsibility for the maintenance of all vehicles at the depot and ensure they are all legally compliant and ideally have their CPC qualification.
  • ProfileExperience, Skills & Qualifications:Essential
  • Operational management experience within a transport environment
  • CPC National / International
  • Distribution within B2B or B2C retail channels.
  • Working with Union representation
  • Presentation and communication.
  • Project management within a distribution environment.
  • Understanding of current health & safety and legal compliance regulations applicable to Distribution.
  • Management qualification in logistics or general management.
  • Desirable
  • Educated to degree level
  • Paragon (or similar) planning and scheduling tool
  • Member of the institute of Logistics
