Job Description

We currently have an exciting opportunity for an experienced assembly team leader on behalf of our client based in near Tamworth.Duties will include:

  • Promote continuous Improvement with a focus on QRM using CI techniques.
  • Assist in the application of continuous improvement projects, to decrease changeover times, improve standardise tooling programs, reduce waste etc. look to continually increase machine or employee utilisation working closely with production engineering.
  • Ensure Assembly Supervisor has all relevant information for hand over to the oncoming shift.
  • Support the Assembly Supervisor in the effective running of the department, definitions are:
  • Achieve on time delivery in full through the area and achieve KPI’s for productivity and look for opportunities to reduce scrap at all stages of the Assembly process.
  • Ensure that the output meets the planned production schedules, communicating to the Assembly Supervisor when at risk.
  • Ensure communication/data to support the Assembly Supervisor for any overtime requirements needed to achieve the weekly plan.
  • Take a proactive and responsible approach to health, safety and environmental risks and report them as appropriate.
  • Control area consumable spend budget communicating with Assembly Supervisor.
  • Support Assembly Supervisor in hands on training staff to increase flexibility using the skills matrices.
  • Take ownership of the employees on the shift in your area when the Assembly Supervisor is absent.
Experience / Qualifications required:
  • Fully skilled Assembler with 4 years’ experience in the department and has the ability to train in all aspects of the assembly department.
  • Highly skilled assembler with strong technical background knowledge.
  • Used to working to tight tolerance Assemblies and able to interpret engineering drawings.
  • Able to use a wide variety of measuring equipment.
  • Ideally, people management experience.
  • Educated to O’ level or GCSE grade C and above in Maths and English.
  • Responsible for daily throughput in the defined area in the absence of Machine Shop Supervisor.
  • Must be a good team player.
