Job Description

Cost AccountantPermanent positionExcellent package on offer including 33 days holiday, pension etc8:30am-5pm Monday to Thursday, 8:30am-2:30pm on FridayTamworthOur client is a growing and well-respected engineering business. They are looking for an experienced Cost Accountant to join their expanding team. The ideal candidate will be fully or part qualified (ACCA/CIMA/ACA etc) and will have strong experience within a similar role. The client is also ideally looking for someone that has worked for an engineering/manufacturing business.Cost AccountantJob Description

  • Responsible for the ongoing management and analysis of the inventory movement, manufacturing constraints, absorption costing, margin analysis, stock reduction projects and explaining variances to plan. The Cost Accountant must also construct and monitor those cost-effective data accumulation systems needed to provide an appropriate level of costing information to management
  • The role will be responsible for the financial costings across 3 UK sites
  • Daily review inventory and production movements
  • Production of material and production variance reports
  • Work with senior management to explain variances against plan and forecast
  • Weekly & Month End Reporting
  • Production of inventory valuation reports & analysis, explaining adverse inventory movements
  • Maintain standard costing is and valuations applied to inventory items, updating BOMs where required.
  • Review monthly material costs for changes and inconsistencies
  • Establish standard costs and update as appropriate
  • Review standard and actual costs for inaccuracies
  • Development of reporting tools
  • Proactively develop more efficient reporting across financial control
  • Completion of internal audit assessments
    • Cost AccountantEssential Skills/Experience/Qualification Required
  • Strong experience working within a similar cost accounting role
  • Qualified or part qualified (CIMA, ACCA, ACA etc)
  • Knowledge of financial / management accounting with practical experience, developed system skills, implementing reporting improvements
  • Experience working within a manufacturing/engineering environment, using integrated ERP systems
  • Well-versed with Excel
    • Cost AccountantDesirable Skills/Experience/Qualification Required
  • Strong experience with SAP
