Job Description

AAT Studier/Qualified Accounts Assistant Pontyclun Salary circa £26,000 + Study + Benefits An exciting opportunity has arisen in the Pontyclun area for an AAT studier/ qualified Accounts Assistant. Working for this reputable manufacturing organisation, you will report into the Finance Manager on a daily basis and be required to deal with a varietyof tasks in order to ensure the smooth running of the finance department.The successful candidate will play a significant role in supporting the month end process. Working in a friendly team, you will assist with the preparation of the monthly and annual accounts.The suitable candidate will ideally be AAT qualified or nearing completion of the qualification, with experience of the month end process. My client will also consider applications from those candidates who are early stages ACCA/CIMA with a view to progressingin the long-term.Key responsibilities will include:

  • Supporting the preparation of management accounts to include month end analysis and reconciliations
  • Prepayments and accruals
  • Balance sheet reconciliations
  • Year-end reporting for statutory accounts to include back-up analysis and additional information required for Year-End audit
  • Assist with the maintenance of the fixed asset register and capital tracker for spend versus budget
  • Daily reporting on spend versus budget for various lines of the P&L
  • Assist with the preparation and submission of VAT returns
  • Bank postings, reconciliations and other treasury functions
  • Cash flow forecasts
  • Supplier payment runs
  • Accounts receivable duties
  • Other ad hoc tasks as required
Person Specification:
  1. Experienced IT user, having worked with accounting software previously (Sage experience highly advantageous)
  2. Ability to work on your own initiative and as a part of a larger team
  3. Ideally AAT studier/qualified with a strong technical background having worked within a similar role previously
  4. Willing and eager to learn
  5. Positive attitude and desire to go the extra mile
The ideal candidate will possess strong Excel skills to intermediate level and be committed and dedicated to getting the job done. Previous exposure of working within a similar role would be highly beneficial. The role is working in a busy office environmenttherefore you must be able to prioritise your workload and ensure a high level of accuracy at all times.
