Job Description

Buyer - Packaging - Leicester - £40,000 - £45,000, £6,000 Car Allowance & Company Wide Benefits - Hybrid WorkingFutures have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Packaging Buyer to join a leading, global, billion £ food manufacturer who are well-known in the market for their great tasting products!This is an exciting opportunity to re-shape a business’s Procurement strategy and be an integral part of the business’s growth plans. You will work in the business’s Group Procurement function overseeing 12+ sites covering all Packaging Purchases for thebusiness with a £20m - £30m spend.This company will invest in the development of this role, equipping you with the key skills for the present and ensuring you have a fulfilling, long term career.Key Skills and Responsibilities of a Packaging Buyer Include:

  • Best practice cost optimisation through negotiating overall best terms
  • Strategic planning, budget planning and forecast planning processes - Developing robust, long, medium- and short-term plans and provide the group with an accurate financial forecast to enable successful forecasting
  • Working closely with the business procurement managers to execute implementation plans
  • Ensure documented and vigorous risk management strategies are in place
  • Undertake quality market intelligence gathering to enable group procurement to build a stronger position in negotiations, managing risks and making better informed sourcing decisions in key category areas
  • Managing key relationships with suppliers as well as internal and external stakeholders
  • Create an environment to cultivate innovation opportunities from suppliers and engaging with the relevant business procurement managers to achieve "first to market" status
Skills & Experience Required:
  • A minimum of 3 years’ experience working as a Packaging Buyer
  • Experience within a food, fmcg or a manufacturing environment
  • Excellent Supplier relationship management skills
  • Strong negotiation skills, with the ability to maintain professional relationships
  • Identifies opportunities for improvement and drives them forward
  • Able to influence stakeholders at all levels
