Job Description

Workshop Manager Neath / Swansea / Port Talbotc£45k - £50k neg dep exp + generous benefitsOur client has been established for more than 20 years and specialise in the planned preventative and reactive maintenance, service and repair of special purpose waste processing machinery to clients throughout the UK, and as a result of continued successand an ongoing programme of strategic growth, are now seeking to recruit an enthusiastic and self-motivated Workshop Manager to complement their established and professional team.Based near Swansea in Neath, the successful Workshop Manager candidate will be responsible for the supervision of a team of multidisciplinary engineers, technicians and support staff in order to ensure the highest levels of customer service and satisfactionare attained at all times, assigning tasks and setting clear objectives for production and engineering team members and effectively planning and scheduling workshop activities to ensure deadlines are met.You will allocate resources efficiently in order to optimise workflow and meet objectives and productivity KPIs whilst ensuring that projects are completed both on time and within budget, managing callouts and the out of hours rota and supporting the schedulingof engineers to work on customer premises on both PPM and reactive breakdowns as they may arise, ensuring that engineers are dispatched to customer sites in a timely and efficient manner whilst monitoring engineer availability and workload effectively.Core duties for this varied and challenging Workshop Manager role will include (but not be limited to):

  • Maintaining regular communication with customers in order to understand their requirements and provide updates as appropriate, whilst building longstanding and commercially viable relationships with them as well as with suppliers.
  • Addressing any customer concerns that may arise and ensuring the highest levels of customer satisfaction and support at all times, and providing accurate cost estimates for projects with them considering labour, materials and overheads when required.
  • Ensuring the availability and proper maintenance of vehicles, machinery and tools as well as monitoring stores and inventory levels and ordering materials as needed, whilst maintaining accurate records of project progress, materials used and expenses.
  • Ensuring compliance with all relevant quality control standards and company procedures and promoting a culture of safety and continuous improvement whilst ensuring all H&S legislation is adhered to.
  • Providing mentoring and technical support to the team when necessary and also identifying training needs for those members of the team working on customer premises, troubleshooting technical issues and offering solutions as required.
  • Preparing and submitting Management Information reports on workshop and customer-site performance on a regular basis
Other duties will include learning and understanding the types of equipment and products that the business maintains, refurbishes and manufactures, ensuring that long lead time items are ordered well in advance to avoid delays, identifying areas for processimprovement and implementing changes where beneficial and encouraging innovation and efficiency in both workshop and on-site operations on an ongoing basis.Contact the Service Team at Premier Technical Recruitment on or email your cv in the strictest confidence to for further details.
