Job Description

Production LeadSwansea£36000 - £40000 PAThe CompanyThis swansea based Manufacturing organisation produce high quality bespoke products for a well established client base. Their product range is innovative and progressive with the full process from design to delivery handled in-house. They have an impressivequality management system in place and a 90 strong workforce on site in Swansea.The RoleThis role will see you responsible for providing leadership and direction to a team of 6 team leaders and the maintenance department as well as safety, quality and ensuring cost on time delivery goals are achieved. You will be key in ensuring the operationaldelivery of daily production plan but also work closely with your support team (Engineering, Planning etc) to understand the most effective way to manage workplace organisation, plan improvements or troubleshoot challenges should they arise.You will work Monday to Thursday 08:00am to 16:30pm and Friday 08:00am to 15:30pm.Duties will include:

  • Execute the production plan, ensuring On Time in Full delivery targets are met
  • Execute the production plan, ensuring Productivity Performance targets are met, develop, and implement resource plans to ensure targets are met
  • Monitor production performance for deviations from plan, ensuring corrective actions are put in place to get back on plan
  • Mentor, train and engage with your team and peers ensuring collaboration across the factory and empowering your team to find areas of opportunity to improve.
  • Support the Production Team Leaders in ensuring that their operators achieve minimum requirement targets where possible, and where not to challenge the reasons why
  • Drive uptime of plant and equipment by effectively managing the maintenance department, along with critical spares, planned maintenance & effective use of the maintenance software Workmate
  • Drive physical & electronic workplace organisation though industry standard 5S principles and through ensuring correct bookings and exception daily routines are instigated and sustained
  • Ensure all operators are trained on the tasks that they are undertaking with demonstrated evidence of signed training records & Skills Matrices, identify skills gaps and single point risks
  • Implement a positive safety culture, encouraging near miss and safety behaviour recognition
  • Ensuring product is delivered to quality requirements by ensuring policies and procedures are being followed, e.g., SOPs, First Off Checks etc
  • Ensure that the Production Team Leaders are kept accountable in recording defected product through the internal reject form system, and that they drive forward with the corrective actions
  • Drive down quality issues through continuous improvement activities
  • Ensure the flexing of resource within the production departments that ensure the business meets budget requirements & manage the resource to ensure maximum effectiveness and utilisation
  • Drive cost out of the manufacturing processes through continuous improvement
  • Manage Direct Labour Sickness Absence within Company Policy guidelines
  • Carry out performance reviews of Team Leaders, & Cleaner
  • Support HR & the Production Team Leaders in the conduct of required disciplinary processes
Requirements
  • Solid experience managing teams in a production environment
  • Good people management skills
  • Good practical knowledge of continuous improvement toolbox in terms of Lean and Problem Solving
  • Good Microsoft software knowledge especially Excel & Word
  • Experience of MRP systems
  • Ability to effectively communicate both verbally & written
  • Ability to drive change
