Job Description

We have a 6 month fixed term opportunity to join our H&S team, giving you a chance to build on your existing experience. This is an exciting role where no day will be the same - you could be at a Care home looking at Manual Handling in Pembroke one day, Checking out Asbestos Management plans in Cardiff the next, and Looking at a High Rise Construction project in Aberavon another day.You will be expected to manage your own schedules and time across all regions in Wales.The right candidate will get all of the support they need, as well as the guidance to deliver great standards of work. Because of this, strong motivation, a can-do attitude and problem solving are key strengths we are looking for.How can I make a differenceIn this role you will be responsible for the following:

  • Completion and review of Pobl Risk Assessments/Pobl SSoW/Method Statements
  • Contributing to the Health & Safety procedure working group
  • Carrying out and maintain records of inspections and audits
  • Supervision and instruction of operatives and trainees
  • Supporting their HSR Business Partner to ensure that any incident or accidents are recorded, reported and investigated to root cause
  • To recognise workplace health concerns and liaise with their Business partner for advice and guidance
  • To have an awareness of occupational hazards identified by the H&S Team / Compliance Team
  • To specify and supervise contract works when required
  • Supervise works and contractors, ensuring RAMS are adequate and effectively reviewed
  • Monitor waste management and promote recycling initiatives
  • Working with the central asset management team to ensure property maintenance compliance throughout the division
  • Coordinate inspections of vehicles, trailers etc. and to audit equipment checks that have been done by others
  • To assist with the updating of health and safety manual, intranet, and delivery of the health and safety section of inductions
  • Maintain rolling programme of tool box talks, training and staff safety briefings
  • Undertake food hygiene and infection control audits
  • Working with their HSR Business Partner in the development of HACCP and infection control procedures and guidance documents
  • Ensure effective Permit to Work and LOTO process are implemented.
  • Support the vetting and periodic checking of tender process for approved suppliers and contractors
  • Ensure adequate number of first aiders trained and available and support in the Management and Inspection of first aid equipment
  • Identify Substitution or elimination of hazardous substances or activities
  • Ensure suitable storage facilities are used where required and storage is appropriate to risk.
  • Liaise with the Health & Safety team and operational managers to develop exception reports for management meetings and H&S Forum
  • Undertake DSE assessments where required
